Black Mountain, full weekend!

Long weekend in Black Mtn :). Weekends like this are always nice - although the occasional hiccups do happen ;) Overall, I think the weekend can be summed up by saying it was "productive". Sorry to those who read this post - it's more for my own memory / notes than anything entertaining... (read: climbing beta below).

Dan, Lyra, Johnnie and I all crammed (and I do mean crammed) into Dan's car to make the drive out to our favorite bouldering spot. The plan was to meet up with Theresa, Ngoc, and her crew (which ended up being Randor, his gf, Sarah and Jesse). After nabbing a campsite in site # 21 (the "cool one"), we started hitting the rocks for some climbing.

Our typical routine - boulder basin campground and then to the summit blocks was elected. I paced myself in boulder basin in anticipation of my projects later that day. Still, I climbed Four Wheel Drive again, tried pink crack a few times (discovered that I'm having trouble deadpointing the upper crack after a long hiatus...), climbed front wheel drive, and flower pot right.

Snacks were consumed and we headed up the firetower road to the Summit Blocks. One of my projects is here - Can opener. After spending several minutes "preparing" aka taping up my knee, changing into long pants, etc, I worked on the elusive knee bar and reach problem. Enduring some chuckles from the group, I was finally able to make the second move! Woooot! Not much more beyond that - I need to figure out the foot sequence just prior to releasing the kneebar...

Mumbles roof was next. Despite a long wait between tries (nearly everone in the group wanted to try it...), I made some more progress on this roof crack. The key for me, I've discovered, is to at least keep the left foot in the upper crack at all times. I think using both feet in the roof crack might keep me from pumping out for the final few moves - I need to practice the foot cupping technique that Adam mentioned...

Played around on the sloper -> mantel problem near Easy mumbles and gave lower NRA a few tries. Not much to say for either of these as I was too tired to give them any good go's.

Theresa and the others left at sun down but we were joined by Robb and Adam back at camp. Despite them not sharing any of their beers with us, we reluctantly allowed them to stay with us ;).

Next day was another a few hours in boulder basin on various *hard* problems - Transmaniacon for myself and "Dead Bug" problem. Watching others try Buzzsaw, Where Boneheads Dare, etc. Noticed that the "easy" problem around the corner from the offwidth problem was destroyed (the flake came off...). Afternoon saw us go up to the Lookout Tower area where despite quickly waning motivation, we played on Cracker Boy and a couple of other problems in the area.

It's monday morning, and I'm totally tired despite the 4x4 burger I had the previous night. Oh - and I think I delivered my baby that I waas having with Taryn as I saw a stork fly over us on our drive back... I suspect they added it to the burger though...
